Apparently, my picture with the most favorites is Tetra- Twilight Princess Style.

I wouldn't have guessed it...

Okami (sort-of rant)

The winning entries are lovely, and effort clearly went into them. They are wonderful pieces of art-- but the all focus on Amaterasu, and in one case (the grand prize winner, no less) on Sakuya.

1. It's kind of generic to draw Ammy for an Okami contest. Wasn't originality part of the criteria, and wasn't this contest supposed to show off art inspired by or built off of Okami, not directly ripped out of it?

2. It said pretty specifically that no copyrighted materials or images save those in the resource package could be used. That rules out Sakuya right there! Nice job following your own rules, judges.

That said, my favorite is the one by Rischantag, followed by the sculpture (because, hey, sculptures are pretty damn impressive, and this one is superb), and lastly the grand prize winner (very nice, technically talented, but generic-- and it has Sakuya).

Photographs

I recently came into possession of a lovely old camera thanks to Maco70, and the first few photos I deemed worthy of submission are in my gallery. It's winter, so all the photos for a while will likely be winter-centric. I hope you all like snow.

That said, I move to a less pleasant topic. deviantART has, on other occasions, moved my art from one category to another, and I have not really been bothered except by the arbitrariness of it. The move seems to do no good or more suitably categorize the art.

This time though, they moved two pictures to Scraps. I would like to have replied, if response to an automated message were ever to be read:

Dear Whomever,
I would thank you kindly to assume I know the difference between art and scraps, that I put thought and value into my photographs as into any of my other art, and that it is more than a little insulting to have it moved out of a perfectly suitable category into Scraps. Your FAQ does no good here. If Scraps is just your "holding place", your way of saying I should move the photo myself, then I say this: it is an insult no matter what the intent; if you think it is incorrectly categorized, move it to a proper non-Scraps category yourselves; or best of all simply leave my art alone.
Thank you, stay out of my gallery.

New Year's Again, and...

...I have missed the proper time to put up a New Year's card for the second time. : (
This weekend, I need to make a New Year's card, really... and put it up, eventually. That and everything else I have lying around waiting to be finished or put up. *le sigh*

So Happy Year of the Rat/Mouse, second time around. I prefer to go by the Western style of year end/beginning.

and, completely random, but... Marth is azn.
True, he's a Japanese-only game character, but still... he looks so much more actually Japanese than he has in his old portrait art or in SSBM, or other Fire Emblem characters.

Animooted

Wed Sep 5, 2007, 7:32 PM
So, first few pages of one of the manga are up...

Anyway.
I've always wanted to animate music videos for various songs I hear and really like or get good images for, but I have no flash or anything of the like... instead I have a slideshow program. I got it into my head to try frame-by-frame animation.

Very. Time. Consuming.

It might be a while before I upload anything else...
